Update on travel and hot weather

18 July 2022

Dear Parents, Carers and Students,

Well done for getting through today! Students have been excellent and remained positive throughout the day.  I would also like to thank our teaching and support staff.

I have made the decision to authorise absences for students who use public transport and are worried about their journey to and from school.  Work will be on Teams / SMHW.

The school will remain open as we are conscious that closing could cause issues for some families at such short notice.  The expectation is that students do come to school unless they are concerned about public transport and their journey to and from school.

Normal lessons will continue in school for those who do come in; there will not be any remote or blended lessons.

If students are travelling to school using public transport for the rest of the week, they should check their journey and the relevant travel websites before leaving for school. C2C announced changes at 3:00PM today; there will clearly be last minute changes and disruptions over the next few days with public transport.

This is the C2C  link:

Mon 18 and Tues 19 July – amended timetable | Trains to/from London, Southend & Essex with c2c Rail (c2c-online.co.uk)

This is the Greater Anglia link:

Extreme weather warning. Avoid travelling with Greater Anglia on Monday 18 and Tuesday 19 July. | Greater Anglia

I hope that this added flexibility helps and takes away any potential concerns about your child’s journey to and from school over the next few days.

Best regards,

Jason Carey
